KPOP Charts 2017, 4th Edition: My Top 10


It’s that time again, a new music from the past month of April. Hope all of you check these artists out and their music.



1.       I'll Be Yours by Girl's Day

The girl group formed by four members (Sojin, Minah, Yura and Hyeri) from Dream Tea Entertainment has made their comeback on March 27, but I wasn’t able to listen until early April. This album is part of the series Every Day, which was first released on July of 2011 and now would be the 5th Edition to it. The group was on hiatus after their last released, "Ring My Bell", back to July of 2015. For that time, the girls pursued their solo activities, like acting and variety appearance. "I'll Be Your" debuted on number 7 on Billboard World Albums, and had won #1 on various music shows.   


2.       Ninano by Minzy ft Flowsik

Gong Minji aka Minzy, made her debut as main dancer for one of the most popular girl groups on k-pop, 2NE1, on 2009. After the group had a long time of hiatus she decided to part ways from YG Entertainment and 2NE1 on April of 2016, to later go under Music Works on May of the same year. On January of 2017 she became part of the cast of the variety show "Sister's Slam Dunk" Season 2, along with entertainers Hong Jin Kyung and Kim Sook from the first season, and the new addition Kang Yewon, Han Chae Young, Hong Jin Young and Jeon Somi. Her first solo single was embarked with OST of the MBC Drama "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" on early 2017. Her solo debut was made thru the album Minzy Work_01_UNO, where she collaborated on writing the lyrics for all the songs. The song "Ninano" is a dance track, where you can have appreciated her incredible dancing skills on the MV of it.    
   

3.       Rumor by KARD

The group has finished their 3-step project to now make their official debut. With this track the group has paired up with LG and made a MV that can be seen on a wide screen smartphone. The group has stick it with their unique sound on the k-pop scene, kind of tropical feel with hip-hop and R&B, and great sensual choreo. The track "Rumor" talks about a heartbreak and all the rumors that had spread around a couple. 


4.       Palette by IU ft G Dragon

This coming of age album from IU is her fourth one from the singer actress, that has a 9-year career. The album "Palette" is her first full album since the 2013 "Modern Times". The song that is also titled "Palette", is filled with encouragement and also confidence, as a twenty-something on pop culture. While the song has the collaboration of rapper and leader of Big Bang, G Dragon, he is giving her advice to be herself and with that she can truly shine, talking as experience since he is older than her and also has an entertainment career. The song was co-written by IU, the lyrics are a work from IU and G Dragon. Her album has topped the Korean charts, and the song "Palette" has won a great amount of #1 on various music shows. Other songs of the album are "Can't Love You Anymore" ft HyukOh, and "Ending Scene" which has for leading man Kim Soo Hyun on the MV for it.


5.       She's a Baby by Zico

Woo Jiho, better known as Zico, is a rapper, producer, songwriter, and the leader of the boy group Block B. He is well known and respected on the Korean underground hip-hop as well on the mainstream field, he was active on the underground field since teenager and even went to Japan performing on the same scene. On 2011, he debuted as leader of Block B and also produced their mini album "Welcome to the Block", that had two songs banned as they were not fit for minors. On November of 2014 he released his solo single titled "Tough Cookie". He has collaborated with various artists, also producing other songs. His song "She's a Baby" topped 7 real time charts on the day of it release.    


6.       The Spring by Jung Eun Ji ft Harim

Jung Eun Ji has made her comeback with her second solo project titled "The Spring". The song is a ballad fill with nostalgia but on a way that can make you happy. This track is part her mini album "The Space". On an interview, she shared that her decision of that kind of music was based on her love for listening to radio and that type of songs, she wants people to keep her music on their memory and be able to cheer them up with it.  


7.       Sleep Tight by Kisum ft GilguBonggu

Kisum, born on January 20 of 1994 as Jo Hye Ryung, is a rapper known for competing on season 3 of the hip-hop battling program "Show Me the Money" on 2014, and on the first season of the female rappers battling program "Unpretty Rapstar" on 2015. She is under the label MAPPS Entertainment since 2013. Her projects include "Like It" (2014), "Musik"(2016), "The Sun, The Moon" (2017), a OST for the drama "Uncontrollably Fond" titled "Finding Differences" (2016), and a collaboration single with Cao Lu and Yerim titled "Spring Again" (2017). As featuring we have the duo GilguBonggu also known as GB9, they made their debut on 2013 with the song "Going Crazy". But they are better known for their performances on the OST for the drama "She Gets Married Thrice" with the song "I Hope It's Breeze", song that they wrote and compose. Thanks to this song they got recognition for their vocals and were the most searched name on the web at that time. The track "Sleep Tight" is part of the project "The Moon, The Sun".


8.       Because of You by Park Hyungsik for the OST of Strong Woman Do Bong Soo

Park Hyunsik is an idol turned actor, who is now focusing on that part of his career (acting). Member of the group ZE:A and ZE:A Five (the group hasn't disbanded even though there is a great amount of speculations), made his debut on Mnet's ZE:A's Debut Dairy along with the other members. On 2013 the sub unit ZE:A Five made their debut with the album "Voulez-Vous", the other four members of the sub unit are Siwan, Kevin, Minwoo and Dongjun. He has appeared and multiply dramas and won awards for his acting, some of his projects are "Was Whit My Family?", "The Heirs", "High Society", "Hwarang", and the latest "Strong Woman Doo Bong Soo" alongside actress Park Boo Young and actor Ji Soo.


9.       Blue Moon by Hyolyn ft Changmo

The song "Blue Moon" is a collaboration that has taken by storm the real-time charts, competing against IU and HyukOh's collab, released the same day. The track is a EDM dance that goes great with Hyolyn's emotional voice and Changmo's deep rapping skills. This track was produced by GroovyRoom, with the producing team composed by Park Gyujeong and Lee Hwimin.


10.   The Last Song by HA:TFELT, HaNa, Suram and Bohyung from the OST 4 of Cross Country

This track is part of variety show from channel MBC Every1, wish is a travel show with 3 singers, Yenny (HA:TFELT), Spica's Bohyung and Suran, as well actress Kang Ha Na. This woman will go on a road trip to encounter different musical experiences, writing songs inspired on the road. The first season took place on California, USA.
