This
2019 begins with a bunch of new groups. On this outbreak of idols, we have TXT
from Big Hit Entertainment, itzy from JYP Entertainment, Treasure 13 from YG
Entertainment, and other groups as well as solo artists, are starting their
career this year. For me it’s a little difficult to accept new groups, but I
will try my best to have an open mind on these new artists. What really
surprised me was that I liked one new group, and it’s on the list. So now,
please enjoy my first top 10 of the year.
Apink
- % % (Eung Eung)
The
girls of Apink are back with an incredible track where they express what they
want a partner to have. This song is part of their eight EP “Percent”, and the
sound of it is an 80’s dance music inspired. With the track we have an incredible
MV in which the girls are assembling a series of objects to create their
perfect guy on a Pink Factory. Of course, every great single has an incredible
choreography, and for this project the pointers of the dance goes amazing with
the chorouse “Eung Eung”.
Hwasa
-Twit
The
youngest member of the kpop girl group MAMAMOO, Hwasa, has made her solo
debut!! The sexy member of this unique group has made her first solo project
with the track “Twit”, in which we can have a hint of all her talent. From a
great choreography, a fierce vibe and a display of great vocals, we can not be
disappointed on this single. The track talks about a lover who is giving too
much to a person, and this is displayed on a mockery tone from the singer.
Dreamcatchers
- Piri
This
group has always caught my attention, because their songs sound like they are
out of an anime. Always with a creepy vibe, Dreamcatchers made their comeback
with their fourth EP “The End of Nightmare”. With a flute sound and their
characteristic rock sound, the girls are performing a wake-up call to those who
have sins to reflect before the final judgement. For this track the group don’t
leave their strong choreography, another great characteristic from them.
Itzy
- Dalla Dalla
JYP
Entertainment has debuted their new girl group called itzy. This five-member
group is composed by ChaeRyeong, Lia, RyuJin, Yeji and Yuna. The group’s track
“Dalla Dalla” made their way to Billboard’s World Digital Songs charts in a
flash, something impressive for a new group. This group aims to be something
different and fresh for the audience, and so far they are making an impact.
Loco
ft Zion.T - It’s been awhile
The
rapper Loco has started his mandatory military service this month of February.
Before he enlisted, the track “It’s Been a While” was released. For this
project we have the great combination of Loco’s rapping skills and the smooth
vocals of Zion T. On the MV we can see the rapper getting ready for his
haircut, one of the key moments for a man ahead of his service. The single
talks about seeing someone after a while and remembering the past, this track
was produced by GRAY.
iKON
- IM OK
For
this new project the group has all their feeling of loneliness out. This new
track is part of their “New Kids Repackage: The New Kids” album, which have
tracks from their three previous “New Kids” projects. The song “I’M OK” is the
first release of the group, after a great 2018 with their track “Love
Scenario”.
Chungha
- Gotta Go
Since
2018 Chungha has blown away the audience with her fierce look and incredible
tracks. After her appearance on the survival reality show “Produce I.O.I.” to
later be part of the group I.O.I. at the end, the new idol has taken the stage
as a solo artist for the company MNH Entertainment. At the beginning of 2018
she released the track “Roller Coaster” from the EP “Offset”, and on the summer
she released the song “Love U” from the mini album “Blooming Blue”. On January
she released the project “Gotta Go”, which makes her shine with all the
charisma and fierce attitude. With this track she won her first music show
trophy on MBC’s “Show Champion”.
Nichkhun
- Lucky Charm
It’s
Nichkhun first solo album!!! The 2PM member has released his first solo project
this February, titled “Me”. Since most of his fellow members are in the
mandatory military service, and the remaining other two members (Junho and
Chansung) are working on their solo projects, it was natural the he would do
the same. For this track, the artist wrote the lyrics and composed the music.
The song is described by him to be listed to “right when you wake up, and
before you close your eyes and fall asleep at night”.
VIXX
- Walking
Is a
track composed by member Ravi and the lyrics were written by N. This song is a
love letter to their fans, with their sincere appreciation to them. The
beautiful message is accompanied with a pleasing sound for their beloved
“Starlight”, which is their fandom name.
Tiffany
Young - Born Again
The
ex-member of the SM Entertainment girl group Girls’ Generation, Tiffany, has
released her first album as a solo artist. Even though it’s in English and she
has already released singles, this project should not be left behind. Tiffany
expressed that this album is showing her true self, all her deepest feelings
and what makes her who she is. As it says the track, she is “Born Again” with
this project, making her transition from the kpop world to the US market.
