My definition for Korean Drama Classics is very simple, the drama
has to be before or on 2010 and they use flip phones. I know that there is a
great bunch of Korean Drama Classics, but I haven't got the chance to watch
them all. So here is the list of my Top 10 Korean Drama Classics.
1.
Coffee Prince (2007)

Who would not fall in love with the handsome Gong Yoo? On this
drama, we have the story of a girl, Go Eun Chan, which has always work hard for
her family. Nevertheless, in the other hand we have Choi Han Kyul, the heir of
a Food Company that their main market is coffee. When this two meet out of
coincidence their relationship starts to grow as Han Kyul asks Eun Chan to
pretend to be his boyfriend in order to get out of a series of blind dates
arranged by his family. Yes, I said boyfriend, because Han Kyul thinks Eun Chan
is a boy. They after become coworkers as his grandmother demanded him to work
on the company as the head of a coffee shop, “Coffee Prince Cafe”. All the
workers there are men, for what Eun Chan has to maintain the impression that
she is a guy to stay employed. However, things starts to get complicated when
Han Kyul starts to develop emotions for this “boy”, making him question his
preference.

Boys Over Flowers (2009)

Geum Jan Di has won a scholarship for the most elitist school in
South Korea, Shinhwa High School. She meets the F4, a group of rich kids formed
by Goo Jun Pyo, the son of Shinhwa Group and the most arrogant person you could
meet; Yoon Jin Hoo, he survived his parents on a car accident, for which he has
trouble socializing, the grandson of a former president of South Korea; So Yee
Jung, he is the most skilled potter on the country and his family own the
largest museum of the country, we can't left out that he is a complete
Casanova; and Song Woo Bin, his family runs the largest construction company of
the country. The F4 runs the school and everyone worship them, a sentiment that
Jan Di does not get and is not willing to accept, as she does not like how they
treat people. With her strong head personality, she soon start a rivalry with
Goo Jun Pyo, but builts a friendship with Jin Hoo. However, with the past of
time her rivalry with Goo Jun Pyo makes him develop other kind of feeling for
her, and her friendship with Jin Hoo start to make her fall for him. What will
be the end of this love triangle?

Kim Sam Soon has a very loud and garish personality, but has always
been insecure about her weight. As she is getting near her 30th birthday, she
wants to change her name, which she has always despise it. She is dumped by her
cheating boyfriend and losses her job, but later on is hired by Hyun Jin Heon
as pastry chef of the restaurant Bon Appetit. Jin Heon is the son of a wealthy
hotelier, and is constantly nagged to get married and to follow his mother
steps at the hotelier business. That is why he proposed to Sam Soon a deal,
since she is in the need of money to keep her mother’s house, to pretend to be
his girlfriend to get his mother of his back. Of course, we know this would
develop in something real.

What would happen if the Korean monarchy still exist in modern
times? That is the case for the Korean drama Goong or Princess Hours. Crown
Prince Lee Shin of Korea has a new bride, Chae Kyung. Both of them attend to
the same school before becoming husband and wife, for which their relationship
at the beginning is not so good. The drama begins when the Emperor Lee Hyeon
gets ill, and the family is worried that something would happen, for which they
need to marry the Crown Prince with a suitable consort. His grandfather to Cha
Kyung, on an agreement with her father, betrothed the Crown Prince. But, like
all monarchy, rivalry is always around. That is why his cousin and once the son
of the late Crown Prince Lee Soo, Lee Yul and his mother, Lady Hwa Young
returns, to try to take her previous position and her son’s.

Park Kae In is a furniture designer who is kind, clumsy and kind of
a slob on her personal appearance. She lives in Sanggojae, a modernized Korean
traditional house designed by her father, who is a famous architecture professor.
Her longtime boyfriend, Chang Ryul, suddenly breaks up with her without telling
her much, her friend and housemate is getting married to a guy she has never
know. When Kae In gets to the wedding venue, to her surprise, her friend’s
groom is her ex-boyfriend, and they have been deceiving her for a really long
time. That is why she decides to not believe in love anymore. On the other hand,
we have Jeon Jin Ho, who is an architect and runs as small firm, which is
trying to win a project bid with the Dam Art Center. One of his opponents is
Future Construction, company owned by the father of Kae In ex-boyfriend. Jin Ho
learns that the design that the art center director love the most is
Sanggojae’s, but it has not being exposed to the public. That is why he decides
to pretend to be gay in order to be Kae In’s new housemate and find out all the
secrets around the house design. Aside that, he decides to help Kae In with her
slob appearance until eventually developing feelings for her. But what will
happen if she finds out that he is not gay?

My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (2010)

A Nine-Tailed Fox or Gumiho is an ancient mythological creature
from East Asia, which is mischievous and usually is disguised as beautiful
women to seduce men to take their spirit or eat them. On this drama Cha Dae
Woong is an aspiring actor and student that releases a Gumiho by accident from
a painting that she was trap in. One day Dae Woong suffers a fall and is saved
by the gumiho that he released, she gives him one of her “fox bead” for him to
live, for which she stay around him. He first thinks that she is eccentric or
has some kind of mental problem, until he finds out what she really is, and
start to fear her. With this she takes advantage, she makes a deal with him to
help him become an actor on exchange for her to become human and also
sheltering her and giving her the meat that she love so much.

Playful Kiss (2010)

Based on a Japanese manga titled “Itazura na Kiss”, Playful Kiss is
the story of Oh Ha Ni, a girl that has a one-sided love with Baek Seung Jo, a
smart and popular boy. Oh Ha Ni decides to express her feeling with a letter,
that later Baek Seung Jo returns but graded. When she returns to her house that
day, embarrassed and heart broken, her house collapse with her and her dad, and
end up being invited to live at the house of Baek Seung Jo and his family. Ha
Ni did not stop her effort to win Beak Seung Jo, for which she works hard until
getting the heart of her crush.

Gil Ra Im is a lonely stuntwoman that her only obsession is the
singer Oska. Kim Joo Won is the CEO of a high-end department store. Through a
series of misunderstanding while trying to cover his cousin’s scandal, Joo Won
and Ra Im meet, and he became struck by her attitude. At first, she avoided him
but eventually starts to give in. However, everything became complicated as
they switch bodies.

You’re Beautiful (2009)

Go Mi Nyeon has lived with her twin brother, Go Mi Nam, at an
orphanage since the dead of their dad. Later on, Mi Nam becomes an idol and Mi
Nyeo live in a junior nun dorm to become a nun later. When Mi Nam’s manager
comes to Mi Nyeon for help, and impersonate her brother until he recovers from
a plastic surgery that has gone bad, at which she accept. She will be part of
the group A.N.JELL as their new member, after her brother won a competition and
a spot on the group. The members of the group are Hwang Tae Kyung, Kang Shin
Woo and Jeremy. Since the beginning Tae Kyung did not wanted a new member, but
when he finds out that the new member is a girl, he threatened her but she
convince him not to. With all the interactions Tae Kyung starts to develop
feelings for her, as well all the other members, Jeremy being the only one who
thought that she was a boy. Mi Nyeon has a hard time trying to hide her
identity to the media, but she also discovers her mother’s past, that is
somehow connected to Tae Kyung.

10. Full House (2004)

Ji Eun is an inspiring scriptwriter that live in a house called
“Full House, which was built by her late father. Her two best friends trick her
on believing that she has won a trip, and while she is away, they sell her
house. On that trip, she meets a famous actor called Young Jae, through a series
of events, they acquainted each other and when she returns to her house, she
finds out that it was sold to him. They start to live together in order for her
to later buy her house back, but the plans change when his crush returns to
Korea and he wants to make her jealous, for which they make a contract to
pretend to be married. Nevertheless, as always, the show becomes reality.
